Your assistant represents your business on the phone, so the Assistant page is where you shape how it behaves. You'll find it configured with your business name, industry, description, offered services, and the settings below.
Turning the assistant on or off
The Assistant page has an Assistant is Active / Assistant is Off toggle. Turning it off stops the assistant from answering any calls immediately - useful if you want to temporarily go back to handling every call yourself.
When should your assistant answer?
Choose one of:
- Missed calls only - the assistant only steps in if you don't pick up.
- Outside business hours - the assistant answers only when you're closed.
- Missed calls + outside business hours - the most common choice, combining both.
- Always answer - coming soon.
This setting works together with your call forwarding configuration on your phone.
Writing assistant instructions
This is the most important part of setup. Assistant instructions are a plain-language description of how you want your assistant to talk, what it should prioritize, and how it should handle situations specific to your business.
A salon might tell the assistant to focus on booking appointments and confirming which stylist a customer wants. A plumber might tell it to always ask what kind of problem the customer is having and whether it's urgent, before anything else.
Good instructions are specific to your business rather than generic. Mention your typical services, your tone (formal vs. friendly), anything the assistant should never promise, and when it should hand a caller off to an enquiry instead of trying to resolve everything itself.
You don't need to describe your business info or services separately in the instructions - those are added automatically from your business profile and service list.
Use Save changes to apply your instructions. Generate with AI will guide you through a short set of questions and draft instructions for you - this is coming soon.
Greeting, language, and voice
An optional opening greeting lets you set the exact first sentence your assistant says, for example: "Hello, you've reached Novák & Sons - how can I help you today?" This is useful for a consistent, recognizable first impression.
Your assistant's default language matches your business's configured language, but during a real call it aims to speak naturally in whichever language the caller uses.
Advanced settings
Collapsed by default, this section holds lower-level configuration - model, voice, temperature, language override, and fallback behavior. Most businesses never need to touch these; they exist for fine-tuning once your assistant is already working well.
